Inês + SOMA + Alphamama
"The searing spice of Portugese heritage is sprinkled generously over the Aussie-raised Inês and her unique take on neo-soul. The songstress’ take on the genre is as gentle and refined as it is raw and sensual. Smoky vibrato vocals and organic instrumentation combine beautifully with a fresh and enticing songwriting approach. Soul is in safe hands in Australia.” - hhhhappy magazine
Portuguese born then raised in the back streets of the Inner West, music schooled Inês in a unique way – sucking all the knowledge from rapper ex-boyfriends and insomnia fuelled ‘Rage’ marathons. Inês’ own offerings are hard to place firmly in one genre, though she has been compared to the rumbling soul melodies and diary like lyrics of Amy Winehouse and Erykah Badu, peppered with hints of Nina Simone & Prince. She is a Janus. One face gazing back at the past and one tapped into the future. Her live band are heavy m***er f***ers. They bring the best of Sydney’s modern jazz and future soul tastiness to the gumbo . Inês is a predator, a vulnerable young woman and a dualist – a rare combination that makes her an unforgettable performer.
Join Inês and her 7 piece band featuring
Miles Thomas - drums
Andrew Bruce - keys
Dave Rodriguez - guitar
Brendan Clark - bass
Alice Terry & Billie McCarthy - bvs
