Since graduating from the Victorian College of the Arts’ theatre directing course in 2000, Gareth has directed: Breaker Morant (currently, Seymour Reginald Theatre season April 2012); As You Like It(Platform 12); Shakespeare’s WillA Woman AloneThe Bear and The Proposal (Old 505 Theatre); The Frail Man and Between the Seabed and the Sky (Darlinghurst Theatre); ScapinThe Venetian Twins,Competitive Tenderness, F’lack o’ Felucca, The Miser and Fen (Darlo Drama); and Monolads (Melbourne Fringe). Prior to his training at the VCA, Gareth directed Macbeth by William Shakespeare (Edge Theatre) and various student productions at Macquarie University.

Gareth worked for the Australian Script Centre as a script assessor from 2004 to 2006, and has taught performance studies, acting technique and theatre history at the VCA Winter School, Shopfront Theatre for Young People, Macquarie University, Darlo Drama, Wollongong University and privately since 2000.

6 Nights a Week at Venue 505

Kicking off 2013 we are increasing the fun times with:

Monday nights featuring local singer/songwriters and some extra special ones with local legends performing off tour shows w special guests for $10!


Come party down for 'Old School' Tuesdays with a live funk and groove band, invited guests jamming and DJ selections of some rare grooves. And it's FREE entry!!!

Wednesdays is a great night for the very best in contemporary Jazz and World music from some seriously world class players. A feast for the senses and especially your ears.

Thursdays will feature some of the new and old faces of 'beat' music reaching into the vaults of Reggae, Afro-Beat, Funk, Jazz and more. Free entry to 505 members!

Fridays are a night to unwind for the week with a blend of some high class and fun acts that range from Swing, Gypsy, Worls, Soul, Funk and more.

Saturdays are our concert series and a perfect night to sit back and let your ears be trated to the most inspiring vocalists and instrumentalists Australia has to offer.

Love Roots, Groove, Funk and Jazz music? Tuesdays are all about it with free entry a lounge atmosphere, live funk trio and resident DJ. Check out the new cocktail menu in style and treat yourself to an early week hang. Some of Sydney’s finest muso’s will be dropping by to jam (or just prop up the bar) Cocktail hour from 6-730!

Old 505 Theatre

Our theatre space the Old 505 Theatre continues to present the best and most exciting work from this towns most innovative artists. With most seasons selling out, the Old 505 is building a strong reputation as a leader in the independent Sydney theatre scene. Our current season of Macondo's Clothesline is sold out.
